How to Draw Glasses in Six Easy Steps
This tutorial shows a simple way to draw a pair of glasses. It provides step by step examples and easy to understand instructions.

The glasses in the example are shown with a fairly basic design, one that consists of the most common parts for such eye wear (the frame, lenses and temples) to make them easy to draw. The guide also provides a suggestion on how you can turn these into either reading glasses or sunglasses when coloring. Overall the goal is to create a drawing that is simple but easily recognizable.
It’s recommended that you start in pencil and make light and easy to erase line in case you happen to make a mistake. You can darken them once you have a parts of the glasses outlined.
Step 1 – Draw the First Half of the Frame

Begin by drawing one half of the frame. You can refer to the example for it’s shape (as it’s bit hard to describe).
Step 2 – Draw the Second Half

Add the second half of the frame mirroring the first one. Try and make the drawing as symmetrical as you can.
Step 3 – Draw the Lanses

Inside the frame draw the lenses or the openings they go into. In this example the shapes of the lenses/openings generally follow the outer shape of the frame so you can draw accordingly.
Step 4 – Draw the End Pieces

On each side of the frame add an end piece where the hinges for the temples are attached. You can make these just a tiny bit wider than the thickness of the frame.
Step 5 – Draw the Temples

For the last part of the glasses add the temples (the parts that hook the glasses around the ears). Draw these angled towards one another going up from from the end pieces. Make each one thinner as it goes towards it’s end tip and be sure to add the bends that go behind the ears.
As was mentioned at the start of the tutorial, once you have all parts of the glasses outlined, you can trace over your drawing with darker pencil lines or a thin black marker. Just be sure that you are happy with the way the glasses look before doing so. Otherwise, first make any corrections you feel are required.
Step 6 – Color the Glasses

You can use any medium you like to color the drawing. Markers can be good if you want brighter looking colors and paints or colored pencils can be used for a more muted look.
Before coloring outline a fairly large reflection to the same side of each of the lenses (shaped as shown in the example). You can either do this in the same color you will use for the lenses or very lightly in regular pencil.
The reflections will help make the lenses look like glass.
You can make the lenses blue (to again help show that they are made of glass), the reflections a slightly lighter variant of the same blue and the frame a light brown (or any color you like).
If you would like to show sunglasses instead of reading glasses you can make the lenses a very dark grey or brown.
Conclusion
This guide show how to draw a pair of glasses with a step by step approach. By giving each part a shape characteristic of such eye ware you can create a drawing that is simple but easily recognizable as the item it’s supposed to be.
